Who recruits for data center construction in Atlanta?

Amundson Group recruits the construction leaders who build Atlanta’s data centers: superintendents, project managers, project engineers, MEP coordinators and commissioning leaders for the general contractors and trade partners working across the metro, from Douglas County to Coweta County. We are a construction-only recruiter headquartered in Houston, veteran-owned and named to the Inc. 5000 in 2024 and 2025, with deep roots in Georgia.

We recruit only for infrastructure and industrial-scale builders: data center, heavy civil, site development, paving, rail, tunnels, wastewater and underground utilities. We do not place commercial, multifamily or energy roles. Atlanta’s data center sites pull from the same superintendents and project managers who build Georgia’s roads, utilities and large site packages, and that is the pool we recruit from.

Atlanta data center construction in 2026: the numbers

  • 2,882 MW under construction in the first half of 2026, up 52.3% in a year and the most of any North American market (CBRE, H1 2026).
  • 1.6% vacancy in Atlanta’s data center market at the end of June 2026 (Atlanta Journal-Constitution, September 2026).
  • 918 MW absorbed in the first half of 2026, a record for the market (JLL, August 2026).
  • 4,900 fewer construction jobs in the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell division from August 2025 to August 2026, down 4% (AGC).
  • 73% of Georgia contractors with superintendent openings, and 67% with project manager or supervisor openings, call them hard to fill (AGC and NCCER 2026 Workforce Survey, Georgia).

Where the work is

Recent projects sit on the edges of the metro, including Lithia Springs in Douglas County and Coweta County near Newnan (AJC, September 2026; AJC, April 2026). One Lithia Springs jobsite had about 1,200 tradespeople a day (AJC).

The pipeline keeps growing. In April 2026, Coweta County rezoned more than 800 acres near Newnan for a nine-building campus of about 900 MW and $17 billion (AJC, April 2026).

Power and policy in 2026

In December 2025, Georgia regulators approved just under 10 GW of new Georgia Power capacity, about 6 GW of it gas, in a build-out driven by data center demand (Georgia Public Broadcasting).

Georgia’s 2026 legislative session passed no data center bills. Proposals to end or shorten the data center sales tax exemption died, so it runs to 2032 (Inside Climate News). Coweta County ran a moratorium on data center rezonings and permits from May to December 2025 before approving the Newnan-area campus (AJC).

What it means for hiring in Atlanta

Atlanta is a split market. By CBRE’s count it leads North America in data center construction, yet the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell division lost 4,900 construction jobs in a year, the largest drop of any metro area (AGC, September 2026). General construction is slowing while mission-critical work accelerates, and a slower market does not create more people who have built a data center.

That is why Atlanta searches move to passive candidates fast. Half of the Georgia contractors in the AGC survey raised salaried pay faster than a year earlier (AGC Georgia results). In our 2026 read on Phoenix, Dallas and Atlanta, Atlanta was closing the pay gap with Phoenix.

The roles we place on Atlanta data center builds

  • General superintendents, superintendents and assistant superintendents
  • MEP and electrical superintendents
  • Project executives, senior project managers and project managers
  • Electrical project managers and project engineers
  • MEP coordinators and commissioning managers
  • Schedulers, estimators and preconstruction leads
  • QA/QC managers and safety managers

General superintendents, electrical superintendents and commissioning managers who have delivered a hyperscale building are the scarcest people in this market.

How an Atlanta search works with Amundson Group

Every search starts with a short intake call on the scope, the site, the schedule, the reporting line and the deal-breakers. Then we go straight to our network of 90,000+ construction professionals, most of whom are working today and not applying anywhere. Our average time from intake to first qualified resume is 7 hours.

We recruit for data center builds across the United States, with deep roots in Georgia, Texas, Florida and the Carolinas. Across 1,200+ construction placements for 250+ construction companies, the pattern holds: the best data center hires are passive candidates who move for the right project, the right leader and the right number. We reach them, screen them on real project experience and close them without surprises at offer stage. To start an Atlanta search, send us the role.
