The Role
A self-performing contractor is hiring an experienced Working Utility Foreman to lead small crews on municipal sewer rehabilitation projects across the Atlanta metro and DeKalb County. This is a salaried, hands-on foreman position where you’ll work alongside your crew, operate equipment when needed, and manage day-to-day site operations on active municipal contracts. If you’ve got real experience in Atlanta-area sewer rehab and you’re comfortable getting your hands dirty while running the show, this is worth a conversation.
What You Will Run
- Lead and manage small crews of 3-4 people on sewer repair, rehabilitation, and CIPP lining projects
- Oversee excavation and underground utility work in live municipal environments with strict safety compliance
- Build and grade access roads as needed to reach work areas, with GradeSafe literacy required
- Operate equipment hands-on in tight spaces, for demonstrations, or when crews run short
- Ensure full compliance with City of Atlanta and DeKalb County safety protocols and municipal regulations
- Coordinate with the Superintendent who oversees multiple sites concurrently
- Manage bypass pumping setup and understand pump watch operations
What It Takes
- Proven hands-on experience with municipal sewer rehab work, repair contracts, and lining (CIPP or similar)
- Prior work specifically within Atlanta and/or DeKalb County. Urban municipal safety protocols, excavation regulations, and equipment protocols are non-negotiable.
- Experience as a working foreman on small, self-performing crews
- Ability to read GradeSafe and understand grading plans
- Strong understanding of safety protocols for urban excavation: spoils handling, trench safety, equipment protocols per city regulations
- You should be able to walk through excavation setup and execution unprompted, with real detail
- No lift station experience required
Comp and Schedule
- Salary: $80,000 – $100,000 DOE. Candidates with dual utility and grading expertise may reach $100K.
- Salaried position with guaranteed pay regardless of weather delays
- Approximately 50 hours per week, typically 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
- Weekends rare; occasional emergency call-outs on a rotation basis
- Night work not a regular requirement; dedicated pump watch team handles overnight monitoring
