Amundson Group
Quality Control Lead
A self-performing contractor building critical infrastructure for the energy and technology sectors is hiring a Quality Control Lead to run quality across a fast-growing modular manufacturing program. You’ll manage quality at fabrication yards and vendor sites across Texas and nationally, vet every subcontractor who touches the work, and build the quality manual that defines the program’s standards. This is a hands-on leadership role where your judgment protects the entire delivery chain.
What You Will Run
- Lead quality control across fabrication yards, vendors, and subcontractors for a modular manufacturing program with 20 to 30 sites in development at any given time
- Vet and approve all subcontractor personnel before assignment to project work
- Hold subcontractors accountable to quality requirements, escalate issues, and resolve them fast
- Finalize quality procedures drafted by engineering and compile the complete quality manual for clients, vendors, and suppliers
- Develop and manage inspection and test plans, hold points, and non-conformance reporting
- Coordinate vendor inspections and pre-shipment checks before product leaves the manufacturer
- Work with the Project Manager to deploy quality leads and inspectors at each fabrication and integration location
- Partner with procurement and engineering on vendor qualification, specifications, and quality requirements in purchase orders
- Build out the quality function as the program scales, including supervising a quality support or documentation role
What It Takes
- 10 or more years in QA/QC within fabrication, modular construction, EPC, energy, or industrial manufacturing, including time in a lead role
- Strong experience managing quality across subcontractors and vendors, with the authority and presence to hold them to standard
- Experience writing or finalizing quality manuals, procedures, and inspection and test plans
- Solid knowledge of structural fabrication and welding quality, plus exposure to electrical and mechanical integration
- Experience with shop inspections, factory acceptance testing, and pre-shipment inspections
- A seasoned, confident operator who can push back on subcontractors and vendors when needed
- Hands-on and self-directed, comfortable building a quality function from scratch
- Relevant certifications such as AWS CWI or ASQ CQE/CQA are a plus but not essential
- Offshore, midstream, LNG, power, or data center module fabrication experience is highly relevant
- Based in Greater Houston or willing to relocate quickly. This role is on-site five days a week, with regular travel to Houston-area fabrication yards and vendors, plus manufacturers and integration facilities nationally
