A self-performing heavy civil contractor is building out its estimating team in North Carolina and looking for experienced Estimators to join a growing operation. If you have 3-10 years of estimating experience in roads, bridges, utilities, or water treatment, this is a chance to work on large-scale projects across multiple states with a company committed to your growth.
What You Will Run
You will own the full estimating cycle on civil projects. That means reading plans and specs, performing takeoffs in Agtek or Trimble, building quantities in Excel, and pricing in HCSS Heavy Bid. You will work in a three-person estimating group, typically handling 2-3 estimates at once. You will participate in bid reviews, closing meetings, and coordinate with scheduling, proposal, and project teams. Training is thorough and ongoing, with full immersion during onboarding to learn the company’s process inside and out.
What It Takes
- 3-10 years of estimating experience, with preference for 2-3 years in PE or PM roles
- Proficiency in Agtek or Trimble, Bluebeam, Excel, and HCSS Heavy Bid
- Strong grasp of heavy civil estimating and project build-up
- Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred but not required
- Field experience (PE, FE, or HH background) is a plus
- Ability to work in-office in Shelby, NC (45 minutes from the main hub)
- Commitment to growth and cultural fit matter as much as credentials

Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $90,000 to $110,000 per year, depending on experience. The company offers an ESOP program, full benefits package, and competitive PTO. Advancement to Senior Estimator roles is achievable for high performers.
