A self-performing construction contractor in New York is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to join their fleet maintenance team. This is hands-on work keeping heavy equipment running on active jobsites and in the shop. If you know diesel engines, heavy construction equipment, and take pride in keeping a fleet safe and operational, this role is worth your time.

What You Will Run

You will maintain, repair, and occasionally operate a full range of construction equipment: excavators, graders, bulldozers, backhoes, front end loaders, skid steers, asphalt pavers, rollers, reclaimers, soil stabilizers, and milling machines. You will also service smaller equipment like jackhammers and saws as needed.

Your core responsibilities include diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment failures, repairing diesel and gasoline engines, and managing shop operations like maintenance scheduling and parts inventory. You will operate hand tools and shop equipment including welders, cut-off saws, drill presses, jacks, chain hoists, overhead cranes, vehicle lifts, grease guns, bench grinders, pressure washers, and torches.

You will travel to remote jobsites for emergency repairs and maintenance when needed. You will also perform pre- and post-trip inspections, maintain on-site stock for routine maintenance, keep the shop and yard organized and clean, and ensure all work meets safety and regulatory standards.
