Bridge Superintendent

A self-performing heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Bridge Superintendent to lead field operations on a major marine bridge construction project in Savannah, Georgia. This is a hands-on leadership role managing skilled bridge crews and coordinating specialty subcontractors on an active, challenging project with approximately 11-12 months of work remaining. Relocation support, including hotel and housing accommodations, is available for the right candidate.

What You Will Run

You will oversee all field operations for a significant bridge project over the Wilmington River on the Islands Expressway. The work is performed substantially from barges, with bridge crews primarily self-performing and a limited number of specialty subcontractors (divers, welders) engaged on an intermittent basis. You will coordinate directly with project management and client representatives, manage complex field logistics, and operate independently on an active project that requires immediate, confident leadership.

What It Takes

  • Strong Superintendent experience in heavy civil and bridge construction
  • Proven ability to manage field crews and complex field operations
  • Experience on DOT projects strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to step into an active project and operate independently without significant training
  • Team-oriented approach and strong cultural fit
  • Marine or barge experience is a strong plus, given the project scope
  • Familiarity with post-tensioning and bridge-specific technical work preferred

About the Project

Work is performed substantially from barges, with self-performing bridge crews and intermittent specialty subcontractors. The technical scope is generally straightforward for an experienced bridge Superintendent, though the project includes post-tensioning work. Approximately 11-12 months of work remain.

Compensation and Opportunity

This role offers $140,000 to $165,000 per year. For the right performer, the Savannah assignment can serve as an entry point into a larger opportunity with our client’s growing North Florida operation, where major design-build work is expected to follow.
