Amundson Group
Senior Estimator
A self-performing contractor in the Charlotte area is building out their estimating team and looking for a Senior Estimator to own the bid process from inquiry to close. This is a hands-on role where your numbers and relationships directly impact project wins and profitability. If you’ve spent years reading plans, managing scope, and defending estimates in a competitive market, this is worth a conversation.
What you will run
- Lead estimate development for commercial and heavy civil projects, from initial takeoff through final bid submission
- Manage subcontractor and material quotes, negotiate pricing, and build accurate cost models
- Collaborate with project managers and operations to ensure estimates reflect real-world execution
- Own client relationships during the estimating phase and support pre-construction planning
- Mentor junior estimators and help refine the firm’s estimating processes and standards
What it takes
- 10+ years of estimating experience in construction, with a track record of accuracy and win rates
- Deep knowledge of heavy civil, commercial, or general contracting (self-performing preferred)
- Proficiency with estimating software and spreadsheet modeling
- Ability to read and interpret complex plans and specifications
- Strong communication skills with subs, suppliers, and internal teams
- Willingness to mentor and help build a stronger estimating function
Relocation support
Our client will support relocation to Charlotte. The amount varies based on distance, but they’ve budgeted meaningfully for the right candidate.
