A self-performing heavy civil and transportation contractor is hiring an Estimator in Atlanta. This is a hands-on role where you’ll own the estimate process from specs to bid delivery, working directly with subs, suppliers, and ownership teams to price work competitively and accurately.
What you will run
- Prepare preliminary cost estimates, budgets, and schedules for individual scopes and complete projects
- Conduct detailed quantity surveys and take-offs from plans and specifications
- Build and maintain subcontractor and vendor bid lists; solicit and manage bid information
- Distribute bid plans and prepare pricing pages for proposal delivery
- Lead detailed scope and price reviews with subcontractors prior to award
- Manage WBE, DBE, SBE, and MBE goals during the bid process when required
- Maintain bid documents and ensure all prequalifications and proposals are current and delivered on time
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to secure best pricing, delivery, and quality
What it takes
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or 4+ years of heavy civil and transportation construction experience
- Proficiency with estimating software, preferably HCSS or HeavyBid
- Strong command of Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a collaborative team environment
