The Role

A self-performing civil contractor in Florida is hiring an experienced Estimator and Project Manager to lead their estimating function and grow into a Chief Estimator role. This is a genuine succession opportunity with an employee-owned firm that values stability, character, and long-term commitment. You will manage projects from $200,000 to $15 million across excavation, utilities, stormwater, concrete, and roadway work.

What You Will Run

• Review construction documents and prepare accurate quantity takeoffs for civil construction projects.
• Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and confirm scope of work.
• Prepare and submit requests for information to design professionals to clarify conditions and improvements.
• Develop value-engineering options that strengthen bid competitiveness.
• Prepare bid packages, solicit subcontractor proposals, and review quotes for scope compliance.
• Build and maintain relationships with owners, material suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Prepare and administer contracts, change orders, and billings.
• Analyze cost data and prepare monthly work-in-progress projections.
• Estimate and negotiate project changes, then revise contracts as needed.
• Attend preconstruction meetings and gather project information.
• Provide input and support for project phasing and resource scheduling.

What It Takes

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field preferred.
• Four to five years of experience in civil construction estimating and project management, including earthwork, piping, concrete, and roadway work.
• Experience with HCSS HeavyBid, HeavyJob, and AGTEK preferred.
• Character and stability. This firm is looking for someone who stays and builds, not someone who job-hops year to year.

Comp and Benefits

$110,000 to $150,000 per year. The company is employee-owned and operates an ESOP program. After five years, you become fully vested with 20 percent ownership in the company. Relocation assistance is available within a capped amount.
