About the Role

Our client, an ENR Top 400 self-performing contractor, is hiring an Assistant Project Manager to support water treatment and wastewater treatment plant construction projects in Raleigh. You will own real P&L responsibility on projects valued at $5 million and up, working directly with project managers, engineers, owners, and subcontractors to deliver on time and on budget.

What You Will Run

You will provide direct management assistance across multiple projects, handling both the business and technical sides of construction delivery.

  • Create, update, and manage project schedules and budgets from award through closeout.
  • Prepare billing, change orders, and cost analysis for extra work. Track and forecast project financials accurately.
  • Review labor reports weekly. Advise on crew sizing, production rates, equipment selection, and construction methods.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and manage daily project operations alongside the Project Manager.
  • Own submittals, material procurement, certifications, and vendor/subcontractor invoicing.
  • Maintain project files, drawings, and production records. Process and approve payments in a timely manner.
  • Communicate scope changes to engineers and owners. Prepare and submit change orders.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with owners, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Monitor job site safety and advise on safety improvements.

What It Takes

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on construction experience with water treatment and wastewater treatment plant projects.
  • Proven ability to manage $5 million in contract value.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 or similar scheduling software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead and develop team members.
  • Valid, non-restrictive driver’s license.
  • 18 years of age, legally eligible to work in the US, and able to pass a drug test.
