Survey Tech / Assistant
A self-performing civil contractor in the Tampa area is hiring experienced survey technicians to support active construction projects. If you know your way around a Total Station and want steady work with a growing team, this is a solid opportunity.
What You Will Run
- Set up, operate, and maintain Total Station units on active job sites.
- Collect survey data before, during, and after construction phases.
- Establish and maintain GPS and robotic total station controls for various project types, including machine control applications for paving and grading equipment.
- Set up and break down base stations for survey work.
- Maintain all company survey equipment, including batteries, controllers, and base stations, keeping everything charged and field-ready.
- Perform field calculations for distances, angles, elevations, grades, and curves.
- Write and maintain accurate field notes and documentation.
- Coordinate with project teams and report any equipment inconsistencies or issues.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines on site.
What It Takes
- Minimum 2 years of survey or construction field experience.
- Proficiency operating Total Station equipment.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License with a clean driving record (you will operate a company vehicle).
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems and ability to troubleshoot equipment problems.
- Strong math skills and attention to detail in field calculations and documentation.
- Clear written and verbal communication to work effectively with crews and project managers.
- Self-motivated, problem-solver mentality.
Compensation
- Entry / Laborer: $19.00 – $20.00 per hour
- Experienced: $23.00 – $24.00 per hour
