A self-performing heavy civil contractor is hiring a Survey CAD Tech to support large-scale infrastructure and transportation projects across Texas. This is a hands-on role that bridges field survey work with office CAD production, reporting to the Texas District Manager. What You Will Run

  • Conduct physical site surveys using GPS, Robotic Total Stations, Data Collectors, and Digital Levels
  • Create DOT plans and convert them to 3D models using Trimble, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office
  • Verify survey data accuracy: measurements, calculations, and office-to-field reconciliation
  • Maintain accurate field notes and survey records
  • Read and identify plans quickly and accurately in the field
  • Respond rapidly to construction issues and collaborate with the entire project team to solve problems
  • Schedule crews, assign tasks, and supervise field personnel
  • Manage survey equipment and maintain safety standards on site
  • Travel occasionally to other project locations as needed

What It Takes

  • Minimum 3 years as a CAD Tech in civil construction (DOT, bridge/structures, heavy highway, railroad, dams/reservoirs)
  • Proficiency with Trimble, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency with survey equipment: GPS, Robotic Total Stations, Data Collectors, Machine Control, Digital Levels
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred
  • Ability to work outdoors in a hands-on construction environment
  • Self-motivated, experienced, and able to work independently
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication with team members and subcontractors
  • Bilingual a plus
  • Drone Pilot License a big plus
  • Background from firms like Kiewit, Balfour Beatty, or ABR preferred. We do not consider candidates from land surveying or engineering firms.

Comp and Benefits

  • Base Salary: 90k – 130k
  • Discretionary annual bonus (1-10%, paid at anniversary)

The Role

Monday through Friday, 7am to 5pm, with occasional Saturdays as needed. This is a 100% office-based role, though you will be working closely with field crews and traveling to project sites. Start date is ASAP.
