Amundson Group
Safety Superintendent – Augusta, Georgia
A self-performing heavy civil contractor is building out a major data center project in Augusta and needs a Safety Superintendent to lead their on-site safety culture from day one. This is a full-time, 100 percent on-site role where you will own safety performance for one project and report directly to project leadership. If you have 5+ years in heavy civil construction safety management and the credibility to coach crews rather than police them, this is your opportunity.
What You Will Run
- Lead and conduct regular safety meetings with field teams and subcontractors
- Implement and monitor safety policies, procedures, and compliance protocols
- Investigate incidents, manage reporting, and drive corrective actions
- Develop and deliver training programs at the OSHA 500/510 level
- Collaborate with field leadership to reduce incident rates and lower EMR
- Maintain safety metrics and reporting for executive visibility
- Support operational growth by aligning safety programs with project profitability and company goals
- Manage and mentor at least one safety officer on your team
What It Takes
- 5+ years in heavy civil construction safety management with commercial siteworks experience
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification required; OSHA 500/510 is a bonus
- Proven track record reducing incident rates and implementing effective safety programs
- Background in contractor or general contractor operations, not OSHA or regulatory agencies
- Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with field crews and subcontractors
- Safety coach mentality, not a safety cop
- Clean background check and motor vehicle record
- Bilingual skills preferred
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $95,000 to $110,000
- Vehicle allowance: $900 to $1,100 monthly, plus fuel and maintenance covered
- 401(k) with 5 percent company match
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- 2 weeks PTO plus 8 paid company holidays
The Opportunity
Our client is expanding operations and building a zero-incident safety culture on a significant project. They need someone who understands that safety is collaborative, not confrontational, and who can work effectively with field teams and subcontractors in a shared responsibility environment. This is a full-time, on-site role with no travel required.
