Safety Manager

Safety Manager, Northern Nevada

A self-performing contractor is hiring a Safety Manager to lead all mining safety operations across Northern Nevada. This is a hands-on leadership role that demands someone who understands field operations from the ground up, not just compliance from a desk. You will be equally comfortable in the field and behind a computer, guiding crews on what they should do, not just what they can’t. This is an immediate backfill with urgency.

What You Will Run

• Oversee and manage all safety programs and compliance for mining operations across Northern Nevada
• Conduct field safety inspections, hazard assessments, and job site walkthroughs
• Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures in accordance with MSHA and OSHA regulations
• Deliver safety training to field crews, including fall protection, forklift, confined space, lifting, and rigging
• Maintain and manage safety documentation, reporting, and recordkeeping using computer-based systems
• Serve as a resource and advisor to field personnel, providing practical, solution-oriented safety guidance
• Collaborate with field safety staff who handle day-to-day hands-on safety activities

What It Takes

• Demonstrated field experience in mining or heavy industrial environments. You must understand the realities of the job, not just regulatory theory
• Strong computer skills. Documentation, reporting, and safety management systems are core to this role
• MSHA Blue Card (required)
• OSHA Trainer Certification (required)
• OSHA Fall Protection Training Certification
• Forklift Training Certification
• Confined Space Certification
• Lifting/Rigging Certification

Preferred: A safety professional who leads by coaching crews on best practices, not just enforcement. Proven ability to balance field presence with administrative and compliance responsibilities. Experience managing safety across multiple sites or regions simultaneously. Familiarity with Northern Nevada mining operations is a strong plus.

Comp and Benefits

• Salary: approximately 120,000 dollars, depending on experience
• Company truck provided
• Discretionary performance bonus

You must be local to Elko and Northern Nevada. Relocation assistance is unlikely to be offered.
