A self-performing heavy civil contractor in the Dallas-Fort Worth area is hiring a Safety Manager to lead safety culture and risk mitigation across project sites and organizational units. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes ownership of safety programs, investigates incidents, and builds a proactive loss-prevention mindset across teams.
What You Will Run
- Implement and promote loss prevention programs, ensuring compliance with insurance procedures and safety policies across construction and excavation environments.
- Execute the organization’s safety training program, including new employee orientations, scheduling, instruction, and coordination with external providers.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities, job sites, machinery, and safety equipment to identify hazards and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Lead investigations of accidents, injuries, and occupational diseases to determine root causes, install preventive measures, and track metrics and trends.
- Review construction plans and specifications to determine safety requirements and recommend safety features that reduce exposure to chemical, physical, and biological hazards.
- Champion installation of safety devices on machinery and prescription of Personal Protective Equipment across all work environments.
- Interview employees about work environments and incidents, implement corrective actions, and track closure of every incident.
- Maintain current knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulations, industrial processes, and company policies.
- Rotate weekend on-call schedule as needed.
What It Takes
- 5+ years of safety management experience in general industry and construction environments.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, required.
- Working knowledge of MSHA regulations.
- Bilingual: English and Spanish.
- Strong leadership and proactive problem-solving skills.
- Broad conceptual judgment and ability to deal with complex safety issues.
- Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- BS in Safety Management or equivalent.
- Professional certifications: CSP, CSHO (Construction), USDOT, HAZWOPER, OSHA, MSHA, CPR, or First Aid.
