A self-performing heavy civil contractor in the Dallas-Fort Worth area is hiring a Safety Manager to lead safety culture and risk mitigation across project sites and organizational units. This is a hands-on role where you’ll own loss prevention, regulatory compliance, and incident management in a construction and excavation environment. What You Will Run
- Implement and promote loss prevention programs, insurance procedures, and safety policies across assigned sites and departments.
- Execute the organization’s safety training program, including new employee orientations, scheduling, instruction, and coordination with external providers.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities, job sites, machinery, and safety equipment to identify hazards and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Lead investigations into accidents, injuries, and occupational diseases. Document findings, determine root causes, install preventive measures, and track metrics and trends.
- Review construction plans and specifications to determine safety requirements and recommend safety features that reduce exposure to chemical, physical, and biological hazards.
- Champion installation of safety devices on machinery and facilities, and oversee prescription and installation of Personal Protective Equipment.
- Interview employees about work environments and incidents. Implement corrective actions and close out violations and risks.
- Rotate weekend on-call schedule as needed.
What It Takes
- 5+ years of safety management experience in general industry and construction environments.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations (required) and MSHA regulations.
- Bilingual: English and Spanish.
- Strong leadership, proactive problem-solving, and broad conceptual judgment.
- Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Preferred: BS in Safety Management or equivalent; professional certifications such as CSP, CSHO (Construction), USDOT, HAZWOPER, OSHA, MSHA, CPR, or First Aid.
