Safety Coordinator
A self-performing heavy civil contractor is hiring a Safety Coordinator for an active rail construction project in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This is a hands-on, project-level safety role where you will work alongside crews to build and maintain a strong safety culture, not police compliance from the sidelines. If you have heavy civil or transportation construction safety experience and speak English and Spanish fluently, this could be your next move.
What You Will Run
- Serve as the dedicated on-site safety professional for a major rail construction project
- Conduct daily safety inspections, oversight, and compliance monitoring
- Work collaboratively with field crews to promote a team-oriented safety culture
- Conduct or support OSHA 10/30 safety training on-site
- Periodically travel to support smaller district-wide rail and highway jobs as needed
- Be available for planned night shifts and some Saturdays per project schedule
Schedule
- Primarily 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, 5 to 6 days per week
- Some night shifts and Saturdays based on work windows
- On-call when crews are working; responsive when needed
What It Takes
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (non-negotiable)
- Proven experience in heavy civil, transportation, rail, highway, or DOT construction safety
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification minimum
- Strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Local to DFW or willing to relocate
Preferred Qualifications
- Rail construction experience (DART or similar); DOT/transportation experience acceptable
- OSHA 500 certification (significant compensation premium)
- CPR and First Aid certification
- CRPE (Certified Rail and Public Entity) or similar rail safety certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health
- Experience with cranes and heavy civil equipment
- Background with heavy civil general contractors
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary: 100,000 to 120,000 (depending on experience)
- OSHA 500 premium: additional 10,000 to 15,000 per year
- Company vehicle provided
- Eligible for annual bonus

There is also long-term opportunity to grow into a district-wide corporate railroad safety role, including expanded regional support.
