A self-performing contractor is hiring a Project Engineer to lead complex construction projects in an active mining and heavy civil environment. This is a hands-on role where you will own project planning, technical execution, and stakeholder communication from start to finish. What You Will Run
- Develop detailed project plans covering scope, goals, deliverables, resource allocation, timelines, and budgets.
- Provide engineering expertise and technical guidance throughout the entire project lifecycle.
- Monitor project costs, manage budgets, and report on financial status to leadership.
- Maintain thorough documentation of project activities, including plans, designs, reports, and schedule updates.
- Identify risks early and develop mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
- Ensure all work meets or exceeds industry standards, MSHA/OSHA regulations, and company quality guidelines.
- Communicate project progress, challenges, and scope changes regularly to stakeholders and supervisors.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and solve complex problems to keep momentum moving.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams to align all aspects of execution.
What It Takes
- Minimum 5 years of project engineering or related field experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in project management software such as P6 Primavera, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially conveying technical information clearly.
- Strong leadership and team collaboration abilities.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills for complex construction challenges.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong understanding of MSHA and OSHA regulations.
- Ability to work in active mining and construction environments with exposure to rugged terrain, heat, dust, and varying weather.
- Willingness to wear PPE and adhere to all safety protocols at all times.
The Work Environment
You will be based at the Silver City office and work primarily on the customer’s property in an active mining and construction setting. Fieldwork is regular, and you must be comfortable navigating rugged terrain and working in heat, dust, wind, and other challenging conditions. Occasional extended hours may be required to meet project deadlines, and you may travel occasionally for training or professional development.
