A self-performing contractor is hiring a Project Engineer to lead planning, execution, and delivery of complex construction projects in an active mining environment. This is a hands-on role that blends office planning with field presence, ideal for an engineer who wants real technical ownership and direct impact on project success.
What You Will Run
- Develop detailed project plans covering scope, goals, deliverables, resource allocation, timelines, and budgets.
- Provide engineering expertise and technical guidance throughout the full project lifecycle.
- Monitor project costs, manage budgets, and report on financial status to leadership.
- Maintain thorough documentation of project activities, designs, reports, and schedule updates.
- Identify risks early and develop mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and smooth progress.
- Address technical issues and project challenges with practical solutions.
- Ensure all work meets industry standards, regulations, and company quality guidelines.
- Communicate project progress, challenges, and scope changes to stakeholders and leadership.
What It Takes
- Minimum 5 years of project engineering or related construction experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration preferred.
- Proficiency with project management software such as P6 Primavera, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially conveying technical information clearly.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and troubleshoot complex problems.
- Solid understanding of MSHA and OSHA regulations.
- Leadership and team collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in active mining and construction environments, navigate rugged terrain, and work in varying weather conditions.
- Willingness to wear PPE and adhere to safety protocols at all times.
The Work Environment
You will be based at the Silver City office and work primarily on the client’s property in an active mining and construction setting. Fieldwork is regular, with exposure to heat, dust, wind, and rugged terrain. Extended hours may be necessary to meet project deadlines. Occasional travel for training or professional development may be required.
