A self-performing contractor is hiring a Project Engineer to lead complex construction projects in Silver City, NM. This is a hands-on role where you will own project delivery from planning through completion, working in a dynamic mining and construction environment. What You Will Run
- Develop detailed project plans covering scope, goals, deliverables, resource allocation, timelines, and budgets.
- Provide engineering expertise and technical guidance throughout the entire project lifecycle.
- Monitor project costs, manage budgets, and report on financial status to leadership.
- Maintain thorough documentation of project activities, including plans, designs, reports, and schedule updates.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and smooth progress.
- Address technical issues and project challenges with practical solutions.
- Regularly update stakeholders on progress, challenges, and scope changes.
- Ensure all project activities meet or exceed industry standards, regulations, and company quality guidelines.
What It Takes
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project engineering or a related construction field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration preferred but not required.
- Proficiency with project management software such as P6 Primavera, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially conveying technical information clearly.
- Strong leadership and team collaboration abilities.
- Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills to solve complex problems.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong understanding of MSHA and OSHA regulations.
The Work Environment
You will work primarily at the client’s office and on-site within their property. Fieldwork involves exposure to active mining and construction environments, rugged terrain, and varying weather conditions including heat, dust, and wind. Regular use of personal protective equipment is required. You must adhere to MSHA and OSHA safety regulations at all times. Occasional extended work hours and travel for training may be necessary.
