A self-performing contractor in Mississippi is building out their preconstruction team and looking for a seasoned estimator who can own pursuits end to end. This is a leadership role at the front end of project delivery, where accuracy in the estimate sets up everything downstream: budget, schedule, safety, and client trust.
What You Will Run
You will guide individual bids from initial strategy through site walks, scope development, and proposal submission. You own the relationship with clients, architects, and trade partners, and you hand off awarded projects cleanly to the operations team. This means you are comfortable being the straightforward point of contact, with no surprises and no overselling.
On the numbers side, you will take off quantities directly from plans and specs, price labor, equipment, overhead, and insurance, and look for smarter ways to build without sacrificing quality. You will manage subcontractor and supplier relationships, compare and level bids, and keep pricing databases current. You will also flag risk from material delays, price swings, weather, and site conditions, and factor safety realistically into scope and sequencing.
As the team grows, you will mentor and develop other estimating staff, bringing people along rather than carrying the workload solo.
What It Takes
- 5+ years of commercial construction estimating experience across hard bid, design-build, and negotiated work
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Technology, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Fluency with estimating software, drawings, specifications, contracts, and cost coding
- A track record that shows up in the numbers: satisfied clients, few budget disputes, healthy margins, and on-time delivery
- Comfort working across every phase of a project, from early pre-planning through closeout
- Experience guiding or mentoring other estimators is a plus

Compensation
$100,000 to $130,000 per year.
