Amundson Group
Project Engineer
A self-performing contractor is ramping up a major transmission pipeline project in the Hillsborough area and needs an experienced Project Engineer to own day-to-day execution. This is a multi-year, large-scale infrastructure build with real scope and complexity. If you’ve got pipe experience and want to step into a lead role on something substantial, this is worth a conversation.
What you will run
You’ll manage engineering and field coordination for a significant portion of a 26-mile transmission main project. Your primary focus will be an 8-mile section of 60-inch pipeline, with exposure to HDPE, Ductile Iron, PVC, and steel transmission mains over 54 inches. You’ll coordinate directional drilling operations and manage the technical side of a complex, phased build. This role sits between the office and the field, so you’ll need to be comfortable with both.
What it takes
- 2 to 4 years of direct pipeline construction experience, preferably with transmission or distribution systems
- Hands-on knowledge of HDPE, Ductile Iron, PVC, and steel pipe installation methods
- Experience with directional drilling operations and large-diameter pipe (24 inches and up)
- Ability to read plans, manage schedules, and coordinate with field crews and subcontractors
- Willingness to be on-site regularly and problem-solve in real time
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the project area
The opportunity
This is a chance to grow into a more senior engineering role on a project with real visibility and budget. You’ll work for a contractor that self-performs work, which means you’ll see how decisions actually get made and executed. The office is located south of I-4 and I-75 in Hillsborough, making it accessible for the local market.
If you’ve got the pipe background and want to step up, send your resume and a brief note about your most relevant project experience.
