Amundson Group
Our client, a self-performing heavy civil contractor, is hiring multiple Lead Men for field crews in Lynchburg, VA. This is a hands-on leadership role for craftsmen who drive production and set the standard through skill and work ethic, not management titles.
What You Will Run
You’ll be the lead on your crew, either as a Lead Pipe Layer or Lead Grader. This is boots-on-the-ground work where you execute at an expert level and keep the crew moving. You’re trusted to be set up by the foreman and deliver results without constant oversight. You motivate by example and own the quality and pace of your work.
Specialization is welcome. You don’t need to be all-around. If you’re a master pipe layer with 20+ years who doesn’t want to manage people, that’s exactly who they’re looking for. Same goes for grading specialists.
What It Takes
- Highly motivated, self-directed work ethic
- Expert-level craft skill in pipe installation or fine grading
- Ability to be set up and left to execute, with the foreman coming back pleased
- Drive to push crew production and maintain quality standards
- No desire to move into management or become a foreman required, pure field excellence is the priority
Pay
Compensation ranges from the low to mid $20s per hour for solid Lead Men, with exceptional craftsmen earning up to $30 per hour. If you’re really good and you double the crew’s production, you’ll be paid for that.
Location
Lynchburg, VA. Local candidates or those open to the area preferred.
