Grade Foreman – Wilmington, North Carolina
A self-performing contractor in the Wilmington area is hiring a Grade Foreman to lead crews on light commercial and DOT projects across the coastal region. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll manage daily operations, train crews to company standards, and help grow the business in a market with solid project pipeline and room to expand into residential work.
What You Will Run
You will oversee grading and site prep crews on projects that are typically lighter in scope and shorter in duration than heavy civil work. The work splits roughly 50/50 between light commercial and DOT projects. You will report to the area manager for the Wilmington territory and coordinate with other foremen across the region. Day-to-day responsibilities include crew supervision, equipment coordination, GPS training (we can train if needed), and submitting updates to management. You will be home most nights, with occasional per diem work when required.
What It Takes
- Foreman experience in grading, site prep, or similar heavy civil work
- Ability to lead and train crews to consistent standards
- Willingness to work 40 to 70 hours per week as project demands require
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Stability and commitment to grow with the company
- Age range 30 to 40 preferred
Compensation and Benefits
Salary: $60,000 to $70,000 per year. Company vehicle and gas card provided. Per diem of $30 per day when overnight travel is required (rare). You will be home approximately 98% of nights.
About the Work
Our client operates across multiple counties in the region with a portfolio of light commercial and DOT work. Projects are typically shorter and less complex than major infrastructure builds, which means faster turnaround and variety in your schedule. Night work is rare and as-needed only.
