The Role

Our client is a self-performing civil infrastructure contractor operating across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, specializing in municipal and city work. They’re growing fast with 16 active crews and 9-12 concurrent projects, and they need a seasoned General Superintendent to anchor field operations and drive performance across the board. This is a field-heavy leadership position where you’ll be the senior operational link between executive leadership and all field personnel.

What You Will Run

You’ll oversee four Project Superintendents and one developing Superintendent, with indirect responsibility for 16 crews of 5-7 personnel each. Your primary job is being present on job sites, actively engaged with crews, and holding everyone accountable to quality, productivity, and efficiency standards.

  • Conduct regular site visits across all active projects to monitor crew performance, work quality, safety compliance, and progress
  • Ensure work is executed correctly the first time, minimizing rework and costly mistakes
  • Directly manage and mentor Project Superintendents, particularly those who need structured guidance
  • Champion the philosophy that crews work to complete jobs efficiently, not just to work hours
  • Monitor crew productivity and labor utilization; identify waste and implement corrective action
  • Apply strong concrete expertise to manage quality control, troubleshoot issues, and drive improvements on concrete-heavy scopes
  • Navigate municipal project environments including inspection coordination, ROW management, and public-sector scheduling
  • Coordinate with city representatives, inspectors, and other public entities across multiple DFW jurisdictions
  • Work in tandem with Project Managers to ensure field execution aligns with budget and schedule
  • Assist in identifying and recruiting foremen, superintendents, and equipment operators as needed

What It Takes

You need to be a respected, seasoned leader with a strong concrete background and deep familiarity with municipal project work. You’ve managed multiple concurrent projects and held crews accountable to quality, productivity, and efficiency standards. You understand the unique challenges of working in city and municipality project environments across multiple jurisdictions.

You’re physically present on job sites, actively engaged with crews, and capable of translating operational and financial expectations directly to the field level. You push back against over-resourcing jobs and have the credibility to make that stick. You have hands-on experience with concrete construction, utilities, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, earthwork, paving, and rehabilitation projects. You’re comfortable working in a self-performing contractor environment where field execution directly impacts the bottom line.

This role is approximately 70% field and 30% office. You need to be willing and able to be in the field consistently.
