Estimator – Charlotte, North Carolina
A self-performing heavy civil contractor in the Charlotte area is hiring an Estimator to join their growing team. If you have 3+ years of construction estimating experience and can read civil plans like a blueprint, this is a solid opportunity to own the estimate process for active projects and build relationships with vendors, subs, and customers who matter.
What You Will Run
- Take-offs and cost estimates for heavy civil projects, from scope review through final bid.
- Vendor and subcontractor pricing management. You’ll contact suppliers, negotiate, and lock in numbers.
- Communication with trade partners and internal teams on project details and bid status.
- Relationship building with customers, vendors, and subs. You’ll be the point person they trust.
- Timely estimate delivery. Deadlines are real, and you’ll meet them.
What It Takes
- 3+ years in construction estimating, preferably heavy civil.
- Ability to read civil plans and develop accurate cost estimates.
- Strong grasp of construction processes and sequencing.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel. You’ll live in spreadsheets.
- Multi-tasking under pressure. You juggle multiple bids and tight deadlines.
- Problem-solving mindset. When numbers don’t add up, you figure out why.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Education and Background
- AAS in Construction Engineering Technology, BS in Construction Science, BS in Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required.
