Estimator

The Role

A self-performing contractor is hiring an Estimator to own the full lifecycle of project estimation, bidding, and preconstruction management. You will identify opportunities that fit company goals, manage budgets from initial site visits through project completion, and keep leadership informed on project status and profitability. This is a multi-faceted position that demands both technical precision and strong communication across internal teams and external partners.

What You Will Run

• Plan and budget all project phases, including site visits, material takeoffs, subcontractor coordination, and contract documents such as insurance, bonds, permits, and safety programs.
• Conduct quantity takeoffs for all trades and review plans and specifications to understand full project scope, requirements, and bid conditions.
• Prepare estimates, cost analysis, risk analysis, and exit analysis for each project.
• Manage project financials, including monthly WIP reporting, progress billing, budget creation, and accounts receivable processing.
• Monitor project costs across labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors, identifying savings opportunities.
• Process and document project change orders and resolve pricing discrepancies.
• Represent the company in pre-bid meetings and construction progress meetings as needed.
• Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
• Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
• Work closely with field operations teams to monitor job progress and ensure timely, profitable completion.

What It Takes

• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Solid organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Excel at time management, problem solving, and budgeting.
• Ability to build strong relationships with clients, contractors, and construction workers.
• Civil estimating experience preferred.
• Agtek software experience preferred.
