Civil Estimator
A self-performing contractor in Florida is hiring an experienced Civil Estimator to lead takeoffs, pricing, and crew planning on municipal and FDOT projects. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows how to read plans, talk to vendors, and build realistic estimates that win work and hold margin in the field.
What you will run
- Detailed takeoffs from FDOT and municipal civil plans using Bid2Win/HCSS estimating software.
- Vendor and subcontractor outreach to secure competitive pricing and build relationships.
- Crew composition and labor planning based on field-proven methods and productivity standards.
- CAD file review and interpretation to catch scope, conflicts, and opportunities before bid.
- Coordination with project teams to ensure estimates translate to buildable, profitable jobs.
What it takes
- Minimum 5 years estimating civil construction work.
- Fluent in FDOT and municipal standards, specs, and details.
- Proficiency in Bid2Win or HCSS estimating software (required).
- Ability to read and interpret CAD files and construction plans.
- Real understanding of how civil work gets done in the field, so your estimates reflect reality.
- Strong communication skills with vendors, subs, and internal teams.
- Organized, reliable, and willing to collaborate and adapt.
Compensation and benefits
$85,000 to $115,000 per year, based on experience and performance.
