Director of Field Operations

The Role

Our client, a self-performing civil construction contractor, is seeking an experienced Director of Field Operations to lead all field activities across their project portfolio. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, you will be the senior field leader driving execution, safety, and team performance on earthwork, utilities, grading, drainage, roadway, and site development projects throughout Mississippi.

What You Will Run

• Direct and oversee all field operations across the company’s civil construction projects
• Lead, manage, and mentor project superintendents, assistant superintendents, foremen, equipment operators, and labor crews
• Own recruitment, hiring, promotion, performance management, discipline, and termination decisions for all field personnel
• Develop workforce planning strategies and coordinate manpower, equipment, and resources to meet project schedules
• Ensure strict compliance with safety policies, OSHA regulations, and company standards across all sites
• Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and executive leadership to execute projects on time and on budget

What It Takes

• Minimum 15 years of civil construction experience
• Minimum 7 years in a senior superintendent or operations leadership role
• Extensive hands-on experience in earthwork, utilities, grading, drainage, roadway construction, and site development
• Proven leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and personnel simultaneously

Compensation and Benefits

$140,000 to $160,000 per year, based on experience.

• Medical and optional insurance coverage with $500 monthly company contribution
• 401(k) with up to 5% company match
• 60 hours PTO first year, 80 hours first calendar year thereafter, with 40 hours carryover (use by March 31)
• Company truck and fuel card for business use
• Performance bonus eligible, based on project and corporate performance
