Amundson Group
Director of Equipment
A self-performing construction contractor in New Mexico is seeking a Director of Equipment to lead strategic fleet management and equipment operations. This is a high-impact leadership role where you will own equipment strategy, capital planning, and vendor relationships that directly affect project delivery and profitability across the company.
What You Will Run
You will oversee all company-owned and rented equipment assets, developing long-term fleet plans that align with operational and financial goals. Your focus is strategy and optimization, not mechanical work. You will lead equipment acquisition decisions, evaluate purchase versus rental versus RPO models, and negotiate with vendors and dealers to secure favorable terms. You will establish costing models, track utilization and performance across projects, and provide executive-level recommendations to ownership on capital allocation and risk exposure.
You will coordinate with project managers and field leadership to plan equipment needs, work with maintenance leadership on preventative programs, and oversee equipment allocation and logistics. You will manage personnel involved in equipment coordination and purchasing, ensure accurate cost allocation for job costing, and partner with accounting on budgeting and forecasting. Staying current on industry trends and equipment innovations will be part of keeping the fleet competitive and efficient.
What It Takes

- Experience managing or leading personnel and coordinating across departments.
