Controller

A self-performing contractor with over 25 years of operating history in Central Texas is seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations across two consolidated entities with combined annual revenue exceeding $200 million. This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the CFO, offering meaningful influence over financial strategy and a stable, experienced team with a structured transition.

What You Will Run

You will own all accounting operations across a general contractor and an aggregate mining operation. This means leading month-end and year-end closes, preparing consolidated financial statements, and maintaining the general ledger across both entities. You will oversee revenue recognition under ASC 606, including percentage-of-completion accounting for construction contracts, and manage WIP schedules and job cost reporting.

You will also administer fixed asset accounting, lease accounting under ASC 842, and debt schedules across all long-term facilities. Tax and regulatory compliance falls to you, including monthly Texas sales and use tax returns and franchise tax coordination. You will manage external audit relationships, prepare lender compliance reporting, and ensure adherence to financial covenants.

Mentoring a newly hired staff accountant is part of the role. You will serve as the CFO’s primary financial partner and operate with significant autonomy.

What It Takes

• CPA with 10 or more years of progressive accounting experience in construction
• Deep command of percentage-of-completion revenue recognition and ASC 606
• Hands-on expertise in consolidated financial reporting, fixed assets, lease accounting, and debt management
• Ability to manage external auditors and coordinate lender reporting
• Maturity to operate with autonomy and serve as a strategic financial partner

Comp and Benefits

• Base Salary: $150,000 to $170,000 annually, commensurate with experience
