Chief Estimator
A self-performing heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Chief Estimator to lead estimating operations from their corporate headquarters. This is a leadership role managing a full department, overseeing bids for bridges, mass earthwork, and industrial concrete projects, and mentoring senior and junior estimators. Relocation to Arizona is required for this position.
What You Will Run
- Lead and manage the full estimating department
- Oversee bid preparation for heavy civil, bridge, mass earthwork, and industrial concrete projects
- Mentor and develop senior and junior estimators
- Collaborate with operations and executive leadership on go/no-go decisions and bid strategy
- Ensure accuracy and competitiveness of all submitted estimates
What It Takes
- Civil Engineering degree required
- Heavy civil experience is the core requirement: bridges, mass earthwork, industrial concrete
- Proven track record leading an estimating team
- Experience at companies with similar scope and self-perform capabilities
- Commercial experience is a plus but can be learned on the job
