A self-performing heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Bridge Superintendent to lead field operations on a major marine bridge construction project in Savannah, Georgia. This is a hands-on leadership role managing bridge crews and coordinating specialty subcontractors on an active, challenging project with approximately 11-12 months of work remaining. Relocation assistance and housing accommodations are available for the right candidate.

What You Will Run

You will oversee all field operations for a significant bridge project over the Wilmington River on the Islands Expressway, connecting Savannah toward Tybee Island. The work is performed substantially from barges, with bridge crews primarily self-performing and specialty subcontractors (divers, welders) engaged on an intermittent basis. You will coordinate directly with project management and client representatives, manage complex field logistics, and operate independently on an active project that requires immediate, confident leadership.

What It Takes

• Strong Superintendent experience in heavy civil and bridge construction
• Proven ability to manage field crews and complex field operations
• Experience on DOT projects strongly preferred
• Demonstrated leadership and communication skills
• Ability to step into an active project and operate independently without significant training
• Strong team-oriented approach and cultural fit
• Marine or barge experience is a strong plus, particularly relevant to this project scope
• Bridge experience preferred; post-tensioning familiarity is valuable but not required

The Project

This is a major bridge construction project with approximately 11-12 months of work remaining. All bridge work is performed from barges. The scope is primarily bridge construction with minimal roadway component. You will work with self-performing bridge crews and coordinate specialty subcontractors on an as-needed basis. The technical work is straightforward for an experienced bridge Superintendent, though the marine/barge environment and post-tensioning elements add complexity.

Long-Term Opportunity

For the right performer, this Savannah assignment can be an entry point into a larger opportunity with our client’s growing North Florida operation. The Area Manager is building out a Jacksonville presence and expects to pursue major design-build work in the region. A strong performer could transition from Savannah into that growing operation and become a key member of the North Florida team.
