Amundson Group
The Role
Our client, a self-performing contractor specializing in water, wastewater, and industrial construction, is hiring mid-level Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers for their Metro Atlanta operations. This is a direct result of team growth and attrition, not turnover issues. If you have 2 to 5 years of hands-on contractor experience and want to work for a stable, growing firm, this is worth a conversation.
What You Will Run
You will manage or support the delivery of facility upgrades, expansions, and some greenfield projects, mostly around live, operational sites. Your day includes coordinating with trades, managing submittals and shop drawings, tracking purchase orders, and keeping subcontractors aligned. You will work in the Buford and Gwinnett County area with no travel required.
- Oversee project schedules, budgets, and quality on water, wastewater, utility, or heavy civil work
- Manage submittals, RFIs, and subcontractor coordination
- Work around operational facilities and existing infrastructure
- Support or lead field teams depending on your level and experience
What It Takes
You need a degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or a related engineering discipline. Business degrees and non-technical backgrounds are not a fit.
Experience requirements:
- 2 to 5 years on the contractor or builder side of construction (not inspection, design, or government roles)
- Preferred background in water and wastewater, heavy civil, or industrial construction
- Acceptable background in utility, DOT, transportation, or commercial construction if you were building, not inspecting
- Familiarity with complex piping, concrete structures, or underground utilities is a plus
- Self-perform or trades exposure is preferred but not required at the junior level
- Tenure matters: 3+ years at previous employers shows stability; job hopping every 1 to 2 years is a disqualifier
We are not looking for fresh graduates, senior PMs, or candidates transitioning from inspection or design roles. We also do not consider candidates from government or owner-side backgrounds, as that profile has not worked historically.
Compensation and Benefits
- APM / Junior PM: $90,000 to $110,000
- Project Manager: $110,000 to $120,000
- Car allowance: $1,000 to $1,100 per month (taxed as income) plus fuel card
Location
Metro Atlanta, Georgia, with primary focus on Gwinnett County and the surrounding region. No travel required. Local candidates are preferred, but relocation candidates will be considered.
If you have contractor-side PM or APM experience and want to join a stable, growing firm, apply now or reach out to Amundson Group.
