Estimator

The Role

A self-performing heavy civil contractor is building out their estimating team in North Carolina and looking for experienced Estimators to join a growing operation. If you have 3 to 10 years of estimating experience in roads, bridges, utilities, or water treatment, this is a chance to work on large-scale projects across multiple states with a company that invests in your growth.

What You Will Run

• Read plans and specifications to understand project scope on heavy civil work.
• Perform takeoffs using Agtek or Trimble software.
• Review documents in Bluebeam and build quantities in Excel.
• Transition estimates into HCSS Heavy Bid for pricing and bid assembly.
• Work within a three-person estimating group handling 2 to 3 concurrent estimates.
• Participate in bid reviews, closing meetings, and cross-functional coordination with scheduling and proposal teams.
• Attend training sessions and pursuit prep modules as part of ongoing development.

What It Takes

• 3 to 10 years of estimating experience in heavy civil, sitework, or related construction.
• Proficiency with Agtek or Trimble, Bluebeam, Excel, and HCSS Heavy Bid (or willingness to learn).
• Strong grasp of estimating process, takeoff methodology, and project build-up.
• 2 to 3 years as a Project Engineer or Project Manager is a plus.
• Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred but not required.
• Field experience (PE, FE, or similar background) valued.
• Ability to work in-office in Shelby, North Carolina, with full immersion during onboarding.
• Track record of career progression and achievement beyond academics.

The Location

Based in Shelby, North Carolina, 45 minutes from the main hub off I-40. Office-based role with standard estimating hours.
