The Role
A self-performing heavy civil contractor is expanding operations at an active mine site in the Winnemucca, Nevada area and needs a Project Engineer to support a growing workload. You will work directly under an on-site Project Manager, providing field-level and administrative support across multiple concurrent scopes including road construction, pipe, excavation, and crushing operations. This is a boots-on-the-ground position for someone early in their career, eager to learn, and ready to contribute from day one.
What You Will Run
- Day-to-day project administration, documentation, and coordination with field crews and subcontractors
- Project scheduling, submittals, RFIs, and correspondence using company software platforms
- Cost tracking, quantity management, and progress reporting
- Compliance documentation, particularly for DOT and county road construction requirements
- Project records, reports, and field coordination across multiple work scopes
- Support to the Project Manager in managing an expanding project scope
What It Takes
- Background in heavy civil, mining, or related construction with hands-on field experience
- General project engineering or project management experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center, and HCSS HeavyJob
- Willingness and ability to travel and relocate to future project sites as work dictates
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to take direction while contributing meaningfully
- Preferred: DOT or county road construction experience, mine site familiarity, or construction management degree (field experience valued equally)
The Details
Location: Winnemucca, Nevada area, approximately 45 minutes outside town. Full-time, on-site field office role. Project duration is 6 months with potential for continued employment on future projects. Travel required. Salary up to $100,000 depending on experience. Company-provided housing during project duration and travel support provided. Standard company benefits package including vehicle allowance.
