Usually one or the other. Heavy civil and site development contractors typically provide either a company truck with fuel and maintenance covered, or a monthly vehicle allowance plus a gas card, and often a phone stipend as well. Which one is better depends on your commute and whether you need a second vehicle at home: a company truck is valuable on a long drive to a remote site, while an allowance can be worth more on a short commute. Both are common at foreman, superintendent, estimator and project manager level. Ask about the vehicle package early, because it adds real value on top of base pay and is often negotiable.
