Senior Estimator, Heavy Civil

A self-performing heavy civil contractor is hiring a Senior Estimator to lead independent estimate development for complex site packages across Georgia. This is a hands-on role with clear path to mentor and shape the estimating function as the company scales from $40M to $50M+ revenue.

What you will run

• Independently review full plan sets and develop complete, defensible estimates for $12M-$15M site packages from drawings through final pricing.
• Quantify complex civil and structural elements: deep excavations (20-50 ft below grade), retaining and backfill walls, grade beams, elevator pits, and tower crane pads.
• Develop material, labor, and equipment pricing with clear understanding of production rates and risk exposure.
• Present estimates to executive leadership, confidently explaining derivation and identifying key risks and assumptions.
• Lead bid handoffs to Superintendents and Operations teams, ensuring alignment before execution.
• Over time, mentor two junior estimators and project coordinators with estimating exposure, standardizing processes across the function.

What it takes

• Strong heavy civil estimating background, not just takeoffs. You own estimates end-to-end.
• Proven ability to read and interpret civil and structural drawings with confidence.
• Experience with AGTEK for earthwork takeoffs and spreadsheet-based estimating tools.
• Detail-oriented, independent, and comfortable defending numbers at the executive level.
• Collaborative mindset. You work with internal teams to strengthen processes and mentor junior staff.

Our client is a veteran-owned, self-performing heavy civil contractor with established operations in South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina, and planned expansion in 2026. They are growing 30-40% year-over-year and need an experienced estimator to anchor the bid process and build out the estimating team. This role reports directly to leadership and carries real influence over how the company prices and executes work.

Office-based in Georgia with minimal travel as needed. Competitive compensation commensurate with experience.
