Amundson Group
Strategic Sourcing Manager
A self-performing contractor building critical infrastructure for AI and energy is hiring their first senior in-house procurement leader. This is a chance to own how a scaling, manufacturing-focused builder buys: moving from project-by-project purchasing to volume supply agreements that ramp across 20 to 30 concurrent sites nationwide. You’ll lead a team of five contract buyers, set vendor strategy, and build the processes that carry the company through national rollout.
What You Will Run
- Lead sourcing and purchasing across fabrication, structural, electrical, mechanical, and power equipment categories, often through distributor-level vendors
- Review vendor quotes and bids line by line, identify gaps, exclusions and risks, and level bids for comparison
- Negotiate commercial terms, including pricing, delivery schedules, retainage, warranties, liquidated damages and payment terms
- Issue purchase orders with the necessary qualifications and clarifications
- Structure long-term, volume-based supply agreements with committed monthly delivery ramps
- Manage and direct the contract procurement team, running daily stand-ups and keeping everyone aligned and accountable
- Anticipate long-lead items and supply chain risks before they reach the critical path
- Work closely with engineering, quality, and project management on specifications, vendor inspections, and delivery
- Build the procurement processes, templates, and vendor base that will scale as the company grows and vertically integrates
What It Takes
- 8 or more years in procurement, strategic sourcing, or contracts within industrial construction, EPC, fabrication, energy, or manufacturing
- Hands-on experience reviewing and negotiating complex vendor contracts and terms and conditions, not just placing orders
- A proven ability to itemize and level bids
- Experience buying industrial equipment and fabricated materials; exposure to power or electrical equipment (switchgear, transformers, battery storage) is a strong plus
- Experience with volume or framework supply agreements in a manufacturing or modular environment is highly valued
- An established network of vendors and suppliers, especially across the Gulf Coast
- Experience leading a small team of buyers
- Self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity: someone who needs no micromanagement and is happy to get into the detail
- Strong communication skills with vendors, engineers, and leadership
- Based in Greater Houston or willing to relocate quickly; this role is in the office five days a week

Location: The Woodlands, TX (on-site, five days a week). Reports to Head of Operations. Regular local travel to Houston-area vendors and fabrication yards, plus occasional national travel to manufacturers. Compensation: $130,000 to $170,000 per year.
