About the Role
A self-performing contractor is hiring a Tunneling Project Manager to lead complex subsurface construction projects in the Houston market. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will own project delivery from planning through closeout, managing budgets, schedules, safety, and teams on high-value trenchless technology work.
What You Will Run
- Full project management responsibility including budget tracking, cost forecasting, and change order processing
- Safety oversight and OSHA compliance across the jobsite, including daily toolbox talks and hazard assessments
- Scheduling and coordination of material deliveries, subcontractor work, and utility requirements
- Estimate reviews, payment submissions, and invoice approvals on a monthly cycle
- Planning and documentation including 4-week look-aheads, RFIs, shop drawings, and project correspondence
- Direct supervision of project team members with coaching and mentorship responsibilities
- Interface with ownership, division management, and field personnel at all levels
What It Takes
- B.S. in Engineering with 5+ years of subsurface work experience in micro-tunneling or TBM operations
- 2+ years as a Project Manager on contracts valued at $10M or higher
- Ability to read and interpret project manuals, specifications, and technical documents
- Heavy construction background required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of meeting tight deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills and follow-through capability
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments and manage multiple priorities
