A self-performing contractor in the Bradenton, Sarasota, and Venice area is hiring a Roadway Foreman to lead grading, base, and site development operations. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll run equipment, manage crews, and own daily production on active roadway projects. If you have 5+ years running finish grade and can read plans like a blueprint, this is your next move.
What You Will Run
- Day-to-day roadway, grading, and civil site development work across multiple active projects
- Motor grader operations: finish grade, cut/fill adjustments, and roadway shaping (freehand and GPS)
- Crew assignments, equipment utilization, and labor allocation to hit daily production targets
- Layout, grade setting, elevation checks, and cut/fill verification against contract specs
- Coordination with project managers, superintendents, inspectors, and material suppliers
- Quality control on base, subgrade, compaction, drainage, and final roadway prep
- Daily safety meetings and enforcement of all safety procedures
- Field documentation and progress reporting to leadership
- Troubleshooting grade issues, plan discrepancies, utilities, and coordination problems
What It Takes
- Minimum 5 to 7 years leading roadway or grading crews
- Ability to freehand finish grade with a motor grader (required)
- Experience reading roadway plans, cross sections, elevations, and layout sheets
- GPS experience (Trimble or Topcon) strongly preferred
- Background in road, base, stabilization, or civil site development work
- Strong understanding of compaction, lime/soil stabilization, and FDOT/municipal standards
- Proven ability to run crews efficiently and maintain production goals
- Clear communication skills and ability to direct field personnel
- Valid driver’s license required
- Punctual, dependable, and able to lead by example
- Organized, calm, and solution-focused under pressure
- Strong job tenure preferred (2 to 3+ years at each company)

The Work
On-site Monday through Friday in the Bradenton, Sarasota, Venice, and surrounding areas. This is a full-time, hands-on foreman role where you’ll spend time in the seat and on the ground leading crews. You own the daily operation and report directly to the superintendent and operations team.
