Estimator, Heavy Civil / Site Development
Our client, a self-performing heavy civil contractor, is hiring an Estimator to join their Preconstruction team in Jacksonville, Florida. This is a true estimating role where you will own the full bid cycle, from quantity takeoffs through final proposal assembly, on underground utilities, site development, and roadway projects across Florida.
What You Will Run
You will be the estimator on the job from start to finish. That means reviewing plans and specs, performing complete quantity takeoffs, developing detailed cost estimates for labor, equipment, and materials, and assembling competitive lump sum and unit price proposals. You will solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes, analyze project risks, identify cost-saving opportunities, and maintain organized bid records and estimating databases.
You will work on a variety of project types including underground utilities, site development, earthwork and grading, roadway construction, municipal infrastructure, and private commercial development. You will coordinate closely with Operations and Project Management throughout the bidding process and support project turnover following contract award.
What It Takes
- Minimum 2 to 5 years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction.
- Hands-on experience estimating underground utilities, site development, roadway projects, and earthwork.
- Proficiency with HCSS, Bid2Win, Bluebeam, AGTEK, and Revit.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple bids on tight deadlines.
- Strong cost analysis and problem-solving skills.
Compensation
$80,000 to $120,000 per year, based on experience.
