A self-performing contractor is hiring a Controls Specialist to manage document flow and project records on a significant construction operation in Arizona. This is a client-facing role that sits at the center of project operations, keeping teams aligned and mitigating risk through organized, professional document management. What You Will Run

  • Manage high-volume incoming and outgoing construction documents including plans, specs, material data, survey files, and design records.
  • Issue submittals and requests for information (RFIs) in collaboration with Project Managers and Engineers.
  • Establish and maintain numbering, filing, and logging systems for work plans, non-conformance reports, meeting minutes, and other project records.
  • Prepare and distribute agendas, meeting minutes, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitate timely document reviews across internal teams and with clients.
  • Format and standardize documents for consistency and professionalism.
  • Enforce document control procedures and update templates as needed.
  • Communicate with clients, vendors, team members, and leadership to ensure clarity and timeliness.
  • Handle office supply inventory and general administrative support as needed.

What It Takes

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in Technical Communication or related field.
  • Office documentation and control experience preferred.
  • Mining and/or construction industry background is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong client service mindset with ability to build positive relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Aconex, SharePoint, Bluebeam, or Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize under tight deadlines.
  • Problem-solving mindset and comfort adapting to changing circumstances.
  • Ability to assess risk and flag documents for additional review when needed.
  • Physical ability to work on construction sites, including standing, walking, bending, and climbing.
  • Willingness to travel to project locations.
  • Commitment to MSHA safety standards and supporting a safe work environment.

Compensation and Benefits

80,000 to 110,000 per year, based on experience.

This role reports to the Project Controls Manager and includes ongoing training and guidance to help you advance within the organization. You will work in a dynamic construction environment with real opportunities for upward mobility across various areas of project support.
