A self-performing heavy civil contractor in the Dallas-Fort Worth area is hiring a Project Manager to lead complex construction projects from mobilization through closeout. This is a hands-on leadership role managing schedules, budgets, teams, and client relationships on projects involving excavation, paving, utilities, and general civil work. If you have 3-5 years of PM experience with a general contractor and want to step into a role with real autonomy and growth potential, this is worth a serious look.
What You Will Run
- Full project oversight from conceptual development through completion, including scheduling, budgeting, and day-to-day execution.
- Contract management: develop, negotiate, and administer agreements with architects, consultants, clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Budget and cost tracking, progress reporting, and financial forecasting to keep projects on track and profitable.
- Safety management and risk mitigation across all project scopes.
- Coordination with Project Engineers, Estimators, Superintendents, and support staff to meet contractual obligations and performance standards.
- Administrative direction of on-site Superintendents to ensure quality, schedule, and budget compliance.
- Stakeholder communication with government clients, private owners, and internal teams.
What It Takes
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
- 3-5+ years as a Project Manager in heavy civil, excavation, paving, utilities, or related construction.
- Proficiency with P6, Heavy Job, Blue Beam, and CAD software.
- Deep understanding of heavy civil and commercial construction practices.
- Strong communication, organizational, and supervisory skills.
- Ability to work effectively with government clients and in team environments.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
Compensation and Benefits
$105,000 to $145,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
