Amundson Group
A self-performing heavy civil contractor is hiring Project Managers to lead large-scale infrastructure projects across Arizona and beyond. If you have 5+ years in heavy civil construction and want to run your own projects with real autonomy, this is a fast-track opportunity.
What You Will Run
You will start as a Senior Project Engineer managing key scopes on major roadway, concrete, earthwork, and infrastructure projects. Your responsibilities will include coordinating field teams and subcontractors, managing RFIs and submittals, tracking budgets and schedules, and ensuring quality control. As you prove yourself, you will transition into full Project Manager roles where you own project planning, financial performance, subcontractor management, and delivery from preconstruction through closeout.
This is not a static title. High performers take on increasing responsibility quickly and can move into independent project ownership based on demonstrated capability.
What It Takes
- 5 to 8 years of heavy civil construction experience (earthwork, roadway, concrete, or infrastructure)
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
- Strong DOT experience and familiarity with state transportation departments (ADOT preferred)
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, field-driven environments
- Ownership mentality, accountability, and hands-on problem solving
- Willingness to travel and relocate for project assignments
Candidates from paving, asphalt, utilities, or adjacent heavy civil backgrounds will be considered if your skill set translates.
Where You Will Work
Projects are based in Arizona (Phoenix, Tucson, Lake Havasu) and across the U.S., including occasional international assignments. Work is project-driven and mobile. Relocation assistance and per diem are available. For domestic travel assignments, expect per diem around $120 per day plus company-paid temporary housing, or flexible arrangements where you manage housing and receive full per diem.
Comp and Benefits
Senior Project Engineer: $100K to $120K base, depending on experience. Project Manager: $120K to $150K, based on experience and responsibility level. Compensation is aligned with your growth trajectory and performance.
Why This Role
Our client is a fast-growing firm with immediate staffing needs across multiple active projects. They promote based on performance, not tenure. You will get real autonomy, not micromanagement. If you want to advance quickly and take ownership of major infrastructure work, this is the place.
