Pipe Foreman – Underground Utilities
A self-performing heavy civil contractor in Southwest Florida is hiring a proven Pipe Foreman to lead underground utility operations on active job sites in the Venice area. This is a direct hire, permanent role for a field leader who knows pipe inside and out and can run a crew from day one. Candidates who bring their own experienced crew are especially welcome.
What You Will Run
- Daily field operations on underground utility projects: gravity sewer, water main, force main, storm drainage, and lift station installations
- Pipe crew on-site: assign tasks, maintain production pace, ensure quality workmanship and safe conditions
- Coordination with superintendent and project manager on schedule, materials, and equipment needs
- Interface with inspectors, engineers, and owners’ representatives
- Daily production tracking, material usage, and crew time documentation
- Crew development and mentoring
What It Takes
- Minimum 3 to 5+ years as a Pipe Foreman or Lead Pipeman on underground utility projects
- Hands-on expertise in gravity sewer installation (deep cuts below 15 ft a plus), water main (PVC, DIP, various diameters), force main, storm drainage, and lift station work
- Ability to read construction plans and utility drawings
- Strong crew leadership: manage, motivate, and hold crews accountable
- Florida experience strongly preferred, with familiarity of local soil conditions and municipal utility standards
- OSHA 10 or 30 preferred; trench safety certification a plus
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL a plus
- Bonus: bring your own crew of 2 to 3 experienced pipemen
