Amundson Group
A self-performing heavy civil contractor is hiring Senior Project Engineers in Arizona who are ready to step into Project Manager roles fast. If you have 5-8 years in construction and want real ownership of major infrastructure work, this is a direct path to running your own projects.
What You Will Run
You will start as a Project Engineer supporting large-scale heavy civil work: roadway, concrete, earthwork, paving, and infrastructure projects. Day one includes coordinating field teams, managing RFIs and submittals, tracking schedules and budgets, and ensuring quality control.
As you prove yourself, responsibility grows fast. High performers transition into Project Manager roles where you own full scopes of work, manage subcontractors and client relationships, control budgets and forecasting, and drive projects from preconstruction through closeout. This is not a static title. Leadership promotes based on performance, not tenure.
What It Takes
- 5-8 years of construction experience, ideally in heavy civil (earthwork, roadway, concrete, infrastructure)
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred)
- Strong preference for DOT experience and familiarity with state DOT processes (ADOT a plus)
- Ability to work in fast-paced, field-driven environments
- Ownership mentality, accountability, and hands-on problem solving
- Willingness to travel and relocate for project opportunities
Candidates from adjacent backgrounds like asphalt or paving will be considered if skills translate.
Where You Will Work
Work is project-driven and mobile. Assignments include Arizona (Phoenix, Tucson, Lake Havasu), other U.S. project sites, and occasional international work. Relocation assistance and per diem are available. Project-based roles typically include per diem (approximately $120/day for domestic travel) and company-paid temporary housing, with flexible arrangements to suit your preference.
Comp and Benefits
- Senior Project Engineer: $100K-$120K base, depending on experience
- Project Manager: $120K-$150K, based on experience and responsibility level
- Per diem and temporary housing covered on project assignments
- Relocation assistance available
The Ideal Fit
You are driven and self-motivated. You seek responsibility and ownership rather than rigid structure. You are comfortable with ambiguity and can jump in and contribute immediately. You want to advance quickly and are willing to relocate for the right opportunity.
This is a fast-growing team with immediate staffing needs across multiple active projects. If you are ready to own your career and run projects, apply now.
