The Role
A self-performing heavy civil contractor in Eastern and Central North Carolina is hiring a Superintendent to oversee multiple municipal utility and infrastructure projects. You will manage field operations, crews, subcontractors, scheduling, and safety across a portfolio of $7M to $15M in active work. This is a hands-on leadership position in a lean, family-oriented organization where you will have direct access to ownership and real autonomy over your projects.
What You Will Run
You will typically oversee 2 to 4 projects simultaneously, including:
- Waterline installations
- Storm drainage systems
- Pump stations and lift stations
- Underground utility installations
Projects are located around Raleigh, Greenville, Durham, and Eastern North Carolina. You will supervise company crews and manage subcontractors, handle daily scheduling, and ensure safe, on-time execution of municipal infrastructure work.
What It Takes
You must have a solid background in heavy civil construction, site development, and underground utilities. Experience managing multiple projects at once is essential. You need to be comfortable supervising crews and subcontractors with minimal oversight, and you should have a track record of stability and consistent employment.
Technical skills in HCSS HeavyJob, Topcon GPS, or Trimble GPS are valuable. Lift station experience is a plus but not required, as the company has strong crews in place.
This role is not a fit if you have a history of frequent job changes or come solely from vertical building backgrounds without substantial site development experience.
Comp and Benefits
Base salary target: $90,000 to $110,000, with a ceiling around $115,000 depending on experience.
Additional compensation includes a year-end performance bonus tied to company and individual performance. The company provides a truck and conducts annual reviews focused on career development and growth.
