A self-performing contractor is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead day-to-day operations of a specialized division. This is a high-visibility leadership role where you will own project performance, safety, quality, cost, schedule, and team development across a portfolio of active work. You will report to the Vice President of Preconstruction and work directly with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and support teams to deliver safe, profitable, and high-quality outcomes.
What You Will Run
- Division-level operational leadership with full accountability for safety, quality, cost, schedule, client satisfaction, and execution across all assigned projects.
- Project planning and startup coordination, including bid handoffs, risk identification, schedule development, resource planning, and execution readiness.
- Financial oversight of division performance, including margin tracking, forecast accuracy, cost exposure, and monthly status reviews with Project Managers.
- Schedule and production management, including critical path monitoring, 3-week lookaheads, resource alignment, and recovery planning.
- Safety and quality leadership in partnership with Safety professionals, including high-risk work planning, field inspections, corrective actions, and deficiency resolution.
- Contract and change management, including change order procedures, notice obligations, risk registers, and contractual rights preservation.
- People leadership for Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, Foremen, and operational support staff, including coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
- Stakeholder communication with owners, designers, inspectors, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
What It Takes
- Proven operations or project management leadership experience in construction, preferably in a self-performing environment.
- Strong financial acumen, including budget management, forecasting, cost tracking, and margin analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop teams across multiple project sites.
- Excellent communication skills with owners, clients, field teams, and internal departments.
- Ability to identify risk early, escalate appropriately, and drive resolution.
- Commitment to safety culture and quality execution.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
