The Role
A self-performing contractor is hiring a Project Manager/Estimator to lead wet utility projects from preconstruction through closeout. You will own the full lifecycle: developing competitive estimates, securing work, and managing awarded projects to meet safety, quality, schedule, and financial targets. This is a hybrid role that demands both estimating precision and field leadership across Colorado.
What You Will Run
- Develop accurate, competitive estimates using HeavyBid or B2W software, then transition awarded projects into execution.
- Manage project schedules using Microsoft Project, maintaining weekly CPM updates and communicating critical path activities to stakeholders.
- Lead quality assurance from bid through closeout, ensuring work meets plans, specs, contracts, and company standards.
- Coordinate post-award handoffs with operations, confirming scope, budgets, risks, and execution strategy.
- Serve as primary liaison with owners, engineers, GCs, public agencies, subs, and vendors. Build relationships and resolve conflicts before they impact delivery.
- Identify project risks early, implement corrective actions, and escalate issues requiring owner or leadership involvement.
- Promote and enforce safety policies, monitor hazards, and foster a culture where safety is a shared responsibility.
- Lead post-project reviews to document lessons learned and recognize team success.
What It Takes
- Five or more years managing civil construction contracts, preferably underground wet utility projects.
- Demonstrated estimating and project management experience.
